WILLEMSTAD – Carnival organization Beehives has organized a series of free workshops aimed at sparking interest in carnival costume making, the organization said in a press release.

The workshops were held from last Sunday through Thursday and were open to the public at no cost. Participants were provided with all necessary materials, allowing them to focus fully on learning the basics of sewing and costume techniques.

According to Beehives, the initiative was designed to introduce newcomers to the craftsmanship behind carnival and to encourage more people to become involved in costume production. Interest in the workshops was strong, with active participation reported throughout the week.

Participants gained both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, forming a foundation that could enable them to contribute as costume makers in future carnival seasons. Beehives described the response as positive, noting that many attendees expressed motivation to further develop their skills.

The organization emphasized that the workshops are part of its broader commitment to strengthening carnival culture on the island and creating opportunities for local talent to grow and participate in one of Curaçao’s most important cultural traditions.
