WILLEMSTAD – The Prekario Team has announced that the marking of designated spaces for prekario activities during Carnival 2026 will begin on January 21, according to a fixed schedule running through January 27.
Prekario refers to the temporary permits issued for the use of public space, typically for Carnival-related activities such as food stalls, bars, sales points, and other temporary commercial setups along parade routes.
According to the Prekario Team, only individuals who already hold a valid prekario permit are eligible to participate in the space-marking process. The marking is intended to clearly identify the location assigned for each temporary structure during Carnival festivities.
Schedule by Section
The marking will take place on the following dates and sections:
- January 21, 2026 – Section D
- January 22, 2026 – Section B-02
- January 23, 2026 – Section B-01
- January 24, 2026 – Section A-03
- January 25, 2026 – Section A-02
- January 26, 2026 – Section A-01
- January 27, 2026 – Final section
Routes Included
The marking applies to the following areas along the Carnival routes:
- Roodeweg to the end of the Curaçao Medical Center area
- Amazoneweg to the start of Roodeweg
- Kv592 to Marchena/Wishi, Coloradoweg
- Mirlaplateweg to Palu Blanku
- Uruguayweg to Mirlaplateweg
- Cubaweg to Uruguayweg
- From the start of the route to Cubaweg
Rules and Requirements
Each marked space may have a maximum size of 50 square centimeters, and the use of spray paint is strictly prohibited. Only approved marking methods are allowed.
The Prekario Team emphasized that the physical presence of the permit holder is mandatory during the marking of their assigned space. This measure is intended to prevent misunderstandings or disputes during the process.
The team is calling on all permit holders to cooperate fully to ensure an orderly and efficient marking process ahead of Carnival 2026.
