WILLEMSTAD – CliniClowns Curaçao closed the year with a series of special Christmas performances in care institutions across the island, bringing moments of calm, wonder, and connection to residents, patients, children, and healthcare workers.
Over the past weeks, the CliniClowns presented their festive production with the Zintuigenorkest (Sensory Orchestra), a Christmas story centered on light, togetherness, and human connection. During the performances, the CliniClowns set out on a playful and sensory search for the light for the Christmas tree. Along the way, they discovered that the light is not something to be found, but something that lives within everyone.
Through listening, feeling, and active participation, the story became a shared experience, conveying the message that light is created together. Music, sound, interaction, and sensory stimulation played a central role, ensuring that the performances were accessible to everyone, regardless of age or disability.
The Christmas performances took place in various care institutions, including nursing homes, residential facilities for people with disabilities, and the pediatric ward of the Curaçao Medical Center. The inclusive nature of the Zintuigenorkest allowed each audience member to connect with the story in their own way.
As a lasting reminder of the Christmas initiative, all participating care institutions received festive light strings decorated with red clown noses to display within their facilities. This symbolic gift represents the light shared during the performances and ensures that it continues to shine even after the holiday season.
