WILLEMSTAD — The Council of Ministers of Curaçao has taken note of the conclusions of the sixth Bestuurlijk Vierlandenoverleg Volksgezondheid, during which Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and the Netherlands agreed to strengthen cooperation on public health within the Kingdom.
By taking note of the conclusions, the Council of Ministers indicated that it has been informed of the outcomes of the consultation. No formal decisions or immediate policy measures were adopted at this stage. Any follow-up actions, such as implementation, financing or legislative changes, would require separate decision-making at a later point.
Focus on Health Crises and Mental Care
During the four-country consultation, the participating governments agreed to intensify cooperation in preparing for health crises, including pandemics and outbreaks of infectious diseases. This includes better alignment of crisis plans and coordinated responses to cross-border public health threats.
Mental health care was also a key topic of discussion. The four countries expressed the intention to deepen collaboration in this area through knowledge sharing and improved coordination of mental health services within the Kingdom.
Prevention and Workforce Cooperation
In addition, agreements were made on prevention and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The countries aim to support joint initiatives focused on disease prevention and strengthening public health in the long term.
The consultation also addressed cooperation in the training and deployment of healthcare personnel, with the goal of improving continuity of care across the Kingdom.
The conclusions of the Vierlandenoverleg are seen as a shared commitment to closer public health cooperation, while the concrete implementation of measures will be assessed separately by each country within the Kingdom.
