WILLEMSTAD - The Saint Elizabeth Hospital (Sehos) immediately needs 10 million guilders to prevent health care from being compromised. The Sehos management made this announcement this week. It was recently decided that the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) will pay medicines directly to suppliers for the time being, but according to the hospital management this is not sufficient, because old debts are still outstanding.
According to them, almost 45 million is still outstanding in debt and creditors are becoming impatient: at least 6 million would have to be repaid before the order can be delivered. Because of this, there is not enough stock at Sehos. The standard would be 7200 items, but the hospital currently has just 5000 items.
In the meantime, the inspectorate is investigating the budget and how it is spent. The Sehos management indicates that they are cooperating with this.
