WILLEMSTAD - Utility company Aqualectra wants to invest about 10 to 20 million guilders in telecom services. Earlier this year, the Council of Ministers agreed to grant a telecom license to the utility company.
Within a year and a half, Aqualectra wants to offer mobile telephony and internet services in addition to supplying water and electricity. This is what Aqualectra director Darick Jonis announced.
The public company has a fiber optic network that is currently only being used to a small extent. The additional revenue from this new industry is used to cover expenses.
