WILLEMSTAD - The Social and Economic Council, SER, agrees with a private member's bill from the MAN. The coalition party has proposed lowering the age at which the full minimum wage can be earned to 18 years.
At present, the minimum wage applies from the age of 21 and the ages below may earn a percentage of the minimum wage. But the Social and Economic Council, like the MAN, is of the opinion that every young person from the age of 18 should earn a full minimum hourly wage. 16 and 17-year-olds would receive 75 percent of the minimum wage to encourage them to complete their education as much as possible, according to the Council.
