WILLEMSTAD – The Projectteam Toezicht en Handhaving (PTH) removed a total of 136 unauthorized advertising signs on the morning of January 19, 2026.

The enforcement action targeted promotional banners and signs that had been illegally attached to public property, including government-owned land, streetlight poles, and traffic roundabouts. The clean-up operation covered the route from the Janwé roundabout to the Caracas Bay roundabout.
According to PTH, placing advertising materials on public infrastructure is not permitted. This includes attaching signs to streetlight poles, installing banners in or on roundabouts, traffic signs, or other public fixtures. The removed materials had been installed without the required permits.
PTH is calling on individuals and businesses wishing to place advertising signs to first obtain the necessary authorization through the ROP. The enforcement team emphasized that compliance with permitting rules is essential to maintain public safety and the orderly use of public space.
