WILLEMSTAD - The man who shot his own cousin in November 2017 was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) had demanded 18 years. The then 27-year-old victim was shot in the head in the Mahuma area.
His cousin, Nathaniel Doran, confesses guilt but says he has acted in self-defense. The two got into a fight in the street about honking one of the suspects. He says the victim first tried to shoot.
The judge found premeditation not proven.
