Mariano, 32, is suspected of having been involved as a police officer in smuggling 340 kilos of cocaine. However, they are confiscated and kept in the safe of the Rio Canario police station.
During the burglary a month later, all narcotics stored there, 530 kilos of coke and about 14 kilos of hemp, were stolen. According to the Public Prosecution Service, Mariano would have been involved in planning the smuggling as well as in the robbery at the Rio Canario police station.
When drawing up the sentence, the Public Prosecution Service says that it takes into account the fact that Mariano is a first offender. But an aggravating factor is the fact that he committed the most important facts while he was still a police officer and the audacity to break into the office of his own employer. Unacceptable, according to the Public Prosecutor, Mariano has caused enormous damage as a police officer and to the police organization.
