WILLEMSTAD - All Curaçao civil servants will officials receive a one-off bonus of 1750 guilders on top of their salary. The bonus will be paid out this month.
With the compensation, the government wants to do something in return for the civil servants who had to hand in 12.5 percent of their salary during the corona period. The payment of 1750 guilders was still in doubt last month, because Governor Lucille George-Wout questioned the National Decree and did not sign it immediately. Despite the unrest that arose within the community about the decision taken, it was decided to pay out the amount anyway.
Civil servants who work part-time receive a smaller bonus. Employees with a special exemption from service or with a suspension or other disciplinary penalty will not receive a compensation payment.
