1.8 million or 3 years in prison

Local | By Correspondent June 17, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Attorney General Leomar Angela demanded 1.8 million guilders from former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte yesterday. Otherwise, Schotte will have to serve an additional three years in prison. Schotte must deposit that money in the Crime Fund.

This became apparent yesterday during the handling of the appeal against Schotte in the context of the Babel case.

Schotte was previously sentenced to three years' imprisonment for, among other things, money laundering, forgery, and bribery. He went to prison on December 5, 2018 and is still serving his sentence.
