AMSTERDAM - Art teacher Neeltje Timmers and artist Sharelly Emanuelson have recently been added to the Mondriaan Fund's pool of advisors. The Mondriaan Fund is the financier and driver of the visual arts and heritage sector in the Netherlands. In total, the National Fund will welcome no fewer than 21 new advisors as of 1 January 2022.

Timmers has been teaching art courses at Vespucci College since 1999. She is also the president of the Curaçao Museum and the sidekick of artist Carlos Blaaker. She studied at the Fontys School of the Arts.

Emanuelson is a visual artist, photographer, filmmaker and is currently working on her dissertation within the Islanders at the Helm project of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). She is the winner of, among others, the Charlotte Köhler Prize (2020) and the Audience Prize of the Volkskrant Visual Art Prize (2020).

With the entry of these advisors, the pool will be enriched with knowledge about heritage, visual arts, diversity & inclusion and knowledge of the Dutch Caribbean. The independent advisers assess the applications to the fund in a careful, expert and impartial manner. In principle, an advisor is appointed for 2 years, with a possible extension of a maximum of 2 years.
