2 Dominican stowaways apply for asylum on Bonaire

KRALENDIJK - Two Dominican men arrived on Bonaire as a stowaway yesterday. The men hid on a cargo ship from Puerto Plata. They have applied for asylum in Bonaire.

The Dominican men are looking for a better life. According to them, living conditions in the Dominican Republic are poor. The men, therefore, opted for the perilous crossing. During the voyage, they sat at the helm of the freighter Gat Feeling.

 

Once in port, a pilot discovered the stowaways. The men have been handed over to the Dutch Military Police. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
