WILLEMSTAD - Several complaints were filed regarding relational violence between 8 and 21 May. There were about 29 reports. This was announced by the spokesperson of the Curaçao police force Imro Zwerwer.
Aid organizations on the island had previously warned about an increase in domestic violence during the lockdown.
Stichting Tegen Kindermishandeling (Foundation against Child Abuse) says today it has its hands full with assistance to these victims. According to chairman Coraline Kooistra "the situation is more serious than ever".
