Local | By Correspondent January 16, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - 48 participants have registered for the Tumba Festival on Sunday afternoon. The best Tumbas will be selected in three preliminary rounds next week and will compete against each other in the final on Friday.

Registrations in the Festival Center got off to a slow start, which meant that the closing time of 5 p.m. was exceeded. The number of registrations lagged behind previous years. In the end, 48 singers entered to conquer the coveted title of Tumba King or Queen.

The winning Tumba will be heard a lot during Carnival and the weeks leading up to it.

Well-known singers such as Amos Balentin, Djuric Virginie, Reinier Lijfrock, Danny Janga, Hendrik de Windt and Ike Jeserun will compete against each other at the upcoming Tumba Festival. Member of Parliament Steven Croes also registered as a participant. The last Tumba Festival took place in 2020 due to the corona pandemic.

The Tumba Festival will be held from January 23 to 27 at the Festival Center.
