WILLEMSTAD - 500,000 guilders are needed for the restoration of the iconic Willibrordus Church in Bandabou. Pastor Israel Gonzales reports this.
The church has not been renovated for 135 years and is in very bad condition. The doors especially are in very poor condition: two of the three can no longer open. If the third door breaks, the church must remain closed to visitors. In addition, the roof and floor must also be repaired. The total costs are estimated at about 500,000 guilders.
Because the government does not help, the pastor is going to organize a 'media fundraising'. This Sunday between 12:00 and 17:00, the fundraiser with religious songs and performances will take place in the Sambil shopping center. Several well-known Curaçaoans will collect money during the media fundraising.
