510 employees will continue working for the refinery

Local | By Correspondent June 20, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Refinery Utilities (CRU) continues with 510 of the 911 employees who were taken over from Refineria Isla (PDVSA) in January. A large part of this group will be offered a contract for 50 percent, or 20 hours a week.

This was announced by Marcelino de Lannoy, interim director of Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK). Government company RdK is the parent company of CRU. "About 480 employees" were offered a job. The other thirty positions are either new or vacant. "You can apply for this," says De Lannoy.

The solidarity proposal by the unions PWFC, Apri and STK to keep all employees in service after 30 June was insufficiently substantiated. "The unions have not indicated how the remaining staff could be paid," says De Lannoy. “RdK would like to participate in another proposal from the unions, to start up the refinery with all employees within the possibilities of the existing Ofac licenses. But we are not there yet.”
