567 civil servants used VVU

Local | By Correspondent August 4, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - 567 Curaçao officials have made use of the Early Voluntary Outflow (VVU). However, the large decrease in staff does mean extra work for the remaining civil servants. This is according to George Hernandez, chairman of the civil servants' union Abvo.

This week it has been exactly one year since the VVU scheme was introduced, whereby civil servants could retire early. The draft budget for 2022 assumes a saving of 17 million guilders.

Abvo chairman Hernandez says he is now concerned about the workload among the civil servants. Hernandez hopes the government will soon open vacancies for the understaffed positions.
