WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Pride, which this year took place from September 30st to October 3rd, is considered a success by the organization, despite the restrictions imposed by the government of 100 visitors per event. On Thursday September 30st, Punda was covered in rainbow flags and decorations, Friday evening October 1st, there was the traditional Rainbow Lounge, Saturday October 2nd, the White Party and Sunday October 3rd, the pool party at Landhuis Bona Visa. During the Rainbow Lounge, Helena Seferina-Rojas, managing director of CHATA, officially opened the Pride with an opening speech about the importance of the event for human rights and emphasized that Curaçao is seen as one of the most LGBT friendly islands in the Caribbean.

“Due to the Covid-19 measures, we were unable to organize a Pride in 2020. We are happy that it was possible to organize several events this year. Due to the enormous support from society, the reactions to the events and the reservations for different the parties, we see that there is a great need for an annual Pride celebration. Striking was that this year a lot of companies raised the rainbow flag. Many organizations have also adapted their company logo on social media with the rainbow colors. By doing this, companies show solidarity and inclusiveness towards their employees and customers.”
Landhuis Bona Vista was this year's Pride Mansion. International guests who came to the island for Curaçao Pride stayed here and several events where organized on this location. The Curaçao Pride will take place next year from September 29th to October 2nd, 2022. The program depends on the then applicable government guidelines and can be found later this year on www.curacaopride.com and on the Facebook page www.facebook.com/curacaopride.
