THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch education minister Ingrid van Engelshoven states that there is a wide and rich range of DUO (Education Implementation Office) information resources for former students in Curaçao. With this she responds to the letter from 100 former students and the Curaçao minister of Education, in which attention was drawn to the problems with DUO on the islands. According to the students, communication with the executive organization in particular has been a major problem for years. Amigoe writes about it.
According to van Engelshoven, former students can also use the telephone services provided by DUO and there is even a special email address for the former Antilles islands. The request to take into account the high cost of living on the islands does not seem to be granted by the minister: this is unnecessary.
“Even former students living in the Netherlands sometimes experience the amounts as tough. Because of the large variation in the cost of living, partly due to our own choices, we cannot take this into account.”
