WILLEMSTAD - The ABC Bus Company is set to acquire five new buses. The funds for the purchase, approximately two million guilders, have been allocated by the Ministry of Finance, as stated on Minister Javier Silvania's Facebook page.
PNP Member of Parliament Sheldry Osepa, who has advocated for this financing in Parliament and has posed specific questions on this topic, has not been officially informed yet. Nevertheless, the politician is pleased, "for all 35,000 public transport users."
This commitment of funds is the direct result of the investment subsidy request submitted by the ABC Bus Company on October 31. Initially, a much larger amount was requested for the purchase of fifteen new buses, but there is no funding available for that.
The current Volvo buses were purchased in 2008 by then-deputy Anthony Godett and are due for replacement.
