ABC islands eagerly waiting for announcement Dutch Prime Minister

Local | By Correspondent May 10, 2021

THE HAGUE - Hotels and other tourism-dependent businesses on the ABC island are eagerly looking forward to tomorrow's press conference by Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge from the Netherlands. Will they announce that the Dutch can go on holiday abroad again?

The negative travel advice that has applied to all foreign destinations since December will expire at the end of this week. The color codes are expected to be implemented again; green for safe, red for unsafe but in between yellow (possible, but be careful) and orange (only necessary journeys). In recent weeks, the advice for some European destinations has already been relaxed.

Code green seems to be within reach for Aruba and Bonaire and certainly Curaçao at the moment, but for the first two code yellow is possible. What is in favor of Bonaire is that the number of active infections is low and the island has its testing policy in order. Incidentally, it is up to the local authorities to determine under which conditions Dutch tourists are welcome again. Now that a European regulation has been delayed for some time, the Dutch Parliament is asking the government to quickly introduce a national 'vaccination and test passport'.
