WILLEMSTAD - According to Gregory Wilson from the ABVO union, the reaction of Finance Minister Javier Silvania towards employees of the Receiver has been completely inappropriate. He describes it as a 'rude letter.' As known, employees of the tax office in the WTC stopped working last week due to unhygienic conditions; mold has formed in many workplaces due to broken air conditioners. However, the minister speaks of 'unauthorized absenteeism' and states that those who have stopped working will not be eligible for overtime pay for the next three months. The ABVO considers this response a threat.
Gregory Wilson stated today that there are rules that employers, including the government, must adhere to. If people stop working due to unhygienic conditions, they should not be threatened by their employer. Employees cannot be forced to be exposed to mold in the workplace for eight hours a day.
