WILLEMSTAD - Trade union ABVO is not happy with the verdict in the lawsuit filed against Melitza Daal for defamation and slander.
Daal stated that there would be mismanagement, embezzlement of money, and illegal management elections in the civil servants' union. In the first instance, the judge stated that Daal's rulings had no basis, but did not find that there was any reputational damage to the ABVO.
In recent months, Daal has made various statements, for example, the management is alleged to misuse the membership fee and to organize illegal management elections. After this, an attempt was made to meet with Daal, the ABVO says. According to the union, this resulted in nothing. The ABVO does not understand the judge's ruling and says that the consequences of reputation damage are large within a small community.
The ABVO says in a press release: "In this way, it is unfortunately allowed that within our small community we can damage each other's reputation and name, without having a basis for it and without any consequences."
