Accidents mark end of carnival in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent February 14, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The conclusion of the farewell parade of the Curaçao Carnival 2024 was followed by several serious and less serious accidents. The most unfortunate incident involved a man from Bonam, who, upon returning home with his carnival costume still on, went unrecognized by his vigilant dog.

A more fortunate incident occurred with a car driver on Sta Rosaweg who overlooked a guardrail. The undulating iron plates pierced straight through the windshield, narrowly missing the man and exiting from behind. He did sustain injuries.

On the Ergilio Hato roundabout, a car struck a pedestrian. The man was assisted by ambulance personnel, and an investigation is underway to determine how the accident occurred.

On the Schottegatweg-east, just before Biesheuvel on the Digicel side, two cars collided. A collision between a car and a scooter occurred at Domi Abou, and there was also an accident on the Ritterdamweg on the Botica Vredenburg side.

At Sint Joris, an accident involving two cars took place in the early morning, resulting in injuries to two children.
