Accusations against Cleopa: where there is smoke, there is fire?

Local | By Correspondent May 17, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The attacks on MAN politicians must stop. That was the message from the press conference the coalition party gave yesterday. Recently, former minister Steven Martina, former candidate minister Neysa Schoop-Isenia and minister Kenneth Gijsbertha have come under fire. With the complaint of sexual harassment against Member of Parliament Eugene Cleopa, the party had enough and called a press conference.

Apparently, the Member of Parliament had send sexually oriented messages to young men via social media. Carlos Monk, from opposition party Korsou di nos Tur, accuses him of that. He has filed a complaint with, among others, the Governor, the Council of Ministers and Parliament. Not at the Public Prosecution Service though.

During the press conference there was hardly any mention of the accusations against Cleopa, but more attention was paid to the problems of the island and that attacks on a party or party members do not help the country any further.

The allegations against Cleopa were not denied during the press conference, even after several questions from the media.
