Activities on King's Day canceled

Local | By Press release April 16, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - One of the big events that cannot take place due to COVID-19 is King's Day. Minister Giselle Mc William of Economic Development, in conjunction with the Crisis Team, has decided that none of the activities will continue around King's Day 2020. During such an event it is not possible to apply the rules of social distancing. The Licensing Counter will, in due course, contact organizations that have already paid fees to arrange a refund.

Every year on King's Day (April 27), the city center is a prominent place for celebrations, such as a flea market. But in addition to the city center, activities are also being organized in various neighborhoods of Curaçao on this day. For many who can use it, the celebrations mean a way to earn something extra. The decision to stop the activities was therefore not an easy one, but the health and safety of the population are paramount for the government.
