Again blackout in Aruba

Local | By Correspondent June 10, 2022

ORANJESTAD - A failure in the new power plant brought all of Aruba to a standstill yesterday afternoon. This was the second blackout in six months. The water pressure also dropped in some parts.

The airport also had to close its doors. Some aircraft were diverted to Curaçao and Santo Domingo. The blackout was resolved after more than an hour. According to utility company WEB, the power outage started in a part of the power plant that had just been installed. The last time Aruba was hit by a blackout was in March.
