THE HAGUE - Today the Netherlands and Curaçao have made agreements to help Curaçao financially. Work is underway on a mutual arrangement that will contain concrete agreements on the necessary structural reforms by Curaçao, in areas such as the economy, public finances and government apparatus.
The countries realize that this requires time and that it is difficult to achieve this without support. That is precisely why the Dutch government wants to offer a concrete perspective for action that supports Curaçao in realizing the ambitions of the Rhuggenaath cabinet's Growth Strategy. This agreement will be ready on July 5. The support is directly linked to the pace that Curaçao will set to implement the necessary reforms.
The Financial Supervision Council has recommended a budgetary instruction. Definitive decision-making about this takes place in the Kingdom Ministerial Council on 5 July.
