Air Traffic Disruptions Were Biggest Impact on Curaçao and Aruba

Local | By Correspondent January 7, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The temporary halt of air traffic on January 3 was the most significant consequence felt in the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom following recent events in Venezuela, according to the Dutch government.

Flights to and from Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire were briefly disrupted after international aviation advisories were issued. Air traffic resumed on January 4, and maritime routes and borders have remained largely unaffected.

Dutch authorities say that while economic and logistical scenarios have been assessed—including migration pressure and supply chain disruptions—no serious interruptions have materialized so far.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense continue to monitor the situation closely.
