American healthcare team stays until the end of June

Local | By Correspondent March 2, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) will continue to deploy the American medical experts until the end of June.

The contract will then expire. Due to the increasing corona infections, the hospital has been assisted by healthcare providers from the Netherlands and the United States since the end of last year. The nurses of the medical employment agency AMI were working in the hospital through the Dutch Ministry of Health and the Dutch Caribbean Hospital Alliance.

The assistance was financed by the Dutch government. Now that the number of infections is declining, aid is also being scaled down. The extra staff were deployed in intensive care, emergency care and other departments where extra hands were needed.

There are currently ten corona patients in the CMC. Of these, five are nursed in the intensive care unit.
