Local | By Correspondent August 20, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The American specialist who was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of theft from the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) was released yesterday.

It concerns a 57-year-old man who is in Curaçao to help combat the corona crisis. The man does not have to be behind bars for the time being but is also not allowed to leave the island. He will not get his passport back for the time being.

The hospital's security cameras show that the man has stolen ampoules from operating rooms. Some of the stolen medicines were later found in his hotel room. The investigation into the theft is still ongoing.
