WILLEMSTAD - Amnesty International and Vluchtelingenwerk will visit Curaçao and Aruba next week. They will hold talks with the authorities, Venezuelans, and activists in response to their recent report on human rights violations in the islands.
This report showed, among other things, that Venezuelan refugee, including children, do not receive protection in Curaçao and that they are normally detained under inhumane conditions.
The Curaçao authorities have not yet responded to the report. Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops is expected to provide a written response to the report to the Dutch Parliament in the coming week.
