WILLEMSTAD - For the third day in a row, Curaçao has seen a sharp increase in the number of people who have tested positive. As was announced yesterday 84 were added, so that a total of 185 people are now in quarantine.
The epidemiology department does not know where the majority of the new contamination comes from on the island, says the leading epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth. Five people who tested positive came from abroad.
A total of 1,888 people have been tested yesterday, bringing the test ratio to 4.4 percent. On Monday it was still 0.4 percent. There is now more testing and more being found.
Measures
Despite the increased number of positive tests, the corona measures in Curaçao will not be tightened for the time being. There will be more checks, especially at events and at the beach. The face mask and social distancing measures also continue to apply.
