WILLEMSTAD - The General Pension Fund of Curaçao (APC) has a deficit in the coverage of its pension obligations for the second year in a row. APC reports this in its 2020 annual report.
The deficit in coverage has increased in recent years. In 2020 the deficit was 34 million, a year before 28 million. APC is still making a profit, but less than in 2019.
“2020 was a particularly difficult year, with the COVID-19 pandemic predominating with a profound impact on the global economy. Curaçao is not excluded from this,” the pension fund writes.
The available capital is sufficient to be able to continue paying the pensions.
