WILLEMSTAD - The men who were convicted two weeks ago for involvement in a murder committed last year at bakery De Zon are appealing. They announced that yesterday.
It concerns the 29-year-old Druwenthly Pieter and the 19-year-old Sherwin Pieters. They allegedly shot Idrick Francisca on the night of June 22, 2019, because the two thought he had something to do with the murder of Pieters's brother that same night.
Pieter and Pieters shot the victim 15 times while he was driving a car. He was hit three times. As a result, he crashed his car against the wall of De Zon Bakery in Rooi Santu. He was seriously injured and transported to hospital, where he died a few hours later as a result of a gunshot to the head.
The two men were both sentenced to 15 years in prison.
