WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao must take into account that there will be power outages in the next five weeks. Aqualectra reports this in a press statement.
The reason is that not enough power can be generated. Enough Megawatts have been added in recent years, but some cannot be used due to the lack of wind and the high demand for electricity from the heat. Overdue maintenance due to the COVID crisis has also reduced the capacity.
Curaçao normally has 162 megawatts available, but that is now only 110, while the demand for power is 120 megawatts.
The company says that it will continue to inform the community about when they can expect a power outage.
