WILLEMSTAD - The Parliament of Curaçao reached an agreement on Friday morning about arrears to Aqualectra. The utility company will receive 250,000 guilders.
In a letter, President of Parliament Charetti America-Francisca indicated that there is currently a shortage of resources to meet urgent obligations until the end of this year. The money for the repayment to Aqualectra comes from part of the amount that was reserved in the budget for the parliamentary inquiry on the new hospital in Otrabanda, the HNO.
According to America-Francisca, these funds will no longer be usable by 2022. The chairman therefore approached Parliament with the proposal to spend the money on other items in the Parliament's budget. The largest part of this is used for payment to Aqualectra. Parliament agreed at a public meeting on Friday.
