WILLEMSTAD - Aqualectra cannot guarantee that there will be no more blackout in Curacao in the short term. But the company is doing everything it can to find out the cause of last week's three blackouts and thus eliminate the risk.
That is stated in a press release that the company released today. The company has started an investigation together with international experts. And this already shows that during the blackouts of last week there were large voltage fluctuations on the grid. Aqualectra says in the press release that it is now devoting all its attention to this problem to ensure that the island is not again faced with a general power outage.
The company had previously announced that the power cuts were caused by the protection mechanism shutting down machines time and again. This is due to fluctuations in the network. Aqualectra does not yet know what caused the fluctuations.
