WILLEMSTAD - The Caribbean Coast Guard carried out several inspections at sea last Sunday. This time the patrol headed towards Santa Barbara Bay and Fuik Bay. During the inspection of two boats, it was a hit.
In these types of patrols, the coast guard works together with the Port Security Inspectorate, the Curaçao Police Force, Customs, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and the Curaçao Maritime Authority.
Authorities checked two boats on Sunday where "narcotics were suspected to have been found on board," the coastguard said in a Facebook post.
During the inspection, a total of six fines were handed out. The drugs have been seized and one person has been arrested.
The coastguard warns boat owners that these kinds of checks with multidisciplinary teams at sea will be continued in the coming period.
