WILLEMSTAD – Local artist Angel Luis De la Rosa Gonzalez has made a special artistic contribution to fundraising efforts for the Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds Curaçao in the lead-up to the twentieth edition of Ride for the Roses. For the anniversary edition of the event, the artist created three sculptures made of mahogany wood and limestone with quartz sourced from the Tafelberg.
The works are titled The Rose of Hope, Faith, and Love. According to De la Rosa Gonzalez, the sculptures together express the essence of life, symbolizing inner strength, perspective, and the courage to embrace life, with love as the central and unifying force.
The project also carries deep personal meaning for the artist. He has lost several loved ones to cancer, including his mother, and describes it as an honor to support the cause through his art.
The three sculptures are currently on display in the atrium of Orco Bank, where members of the public can view them. The artworks are being offered through a silent auction, which runs until January 23.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit Prinses Wilhelmina Fonds Curaçao, which supports cancer prevention, treatment, and assistance for patients and their families.
