WILLEMSTAD - Given the high number of corona infections in Aruba, the Horacio Oduber Hospital (HOH) made the decision on Friday to scale up care. This means that the hospital only accepts emergencies.
There were 51 corona patients in the hospital on Sunday. Six of these people are in the ICU. Ten residents have died from the effects of the corona virus in the past thirty days. Four patients died last weekend.
The HOH has postponed regular care. In this way, the hospital creates more space to treat COVID-19 patients. Patients who do not require urgent care are urged not to come to the hospital.
In addition, the HOH calls on everyone on the island to be careful in traffic, in order to prevent traffic casualties.
The hospital says it deeply regrets the decision, but that there is currently no other option.
