Asphalting of Santa Rosaweg Begins, Minister Cooper Confirms

Local | By Correspondent January 15, 2026

WILLEMSTAD - The long-awaited asphalting of the Santa Rosaweg has officially begun, according to Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP) Charles Cooper.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, Minister Cooper announced the start of the next phase of works on the heavily used but worn road. The rehabilitation project follows earlier preparatory works that started in October, aimed at addressing long-standing deterioration of the roadway.

According to the minister, the resurfacing of the Santa Rosaweg is a crucial step toward improving Curaçao’s infrastructure. He emphasized that the project is essential to ensure better road safety and smoother traffic flow on one of the island’s busiest routes.

The Santa Rosaweg is a key connection for daily commuters and commercial traffic, and its poor condition had been a recurring concern for road users. With the asphalting now underway, authorities expect a significant improvement in driving conditions once the works are completed.
