WILLEMSTAD - The Project Team for Supervision and Enforcement, Projectteam Toezicht en Handhaving (PTH), halted illegal construction activities in the Roi Santu area on Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2026.
According to PTH, officers arrived at the site around 4:22 p.m. and found one concrete pump truck and two concrete mixer trucks in the process of pouring a foundation. The team immediately ordered all construction activities to stop and instructed everyone present to leave the premises.

The case involves the illegal occupation of government-owned land and the construction of a structure without the required building permit. Following an investigation, PTH determined that the owner of the illegal construction was also acting as the contractor carrying out the work. The individual told authorities that he jointly owns the project with another person and that an application for the land had been submitted to Domain Management.
PTH stressed that the use of government land without proper authorization is not permitted and warned against carrying out any construction without a valid building permit. The team also noted that the construction was being carried out during the Carnival season, suggesting that those involved may have assumed enforcement authorities would be less attentive during this period.

Earlier inspections had already taken place. On January 28, PTH visited the location after receiving a report. At that time, no one was present, but it was established that unknown individuals had cleared government land and prepared the site for concrete works.
PTH stated that it remains alert in this case and will continue to closely monitor this and other situations involving illegal use of land and unauthorized construction activities.
