Bachelor's program in International Hospitality & Tourism Management at the UoC positively assessed by the NVAO

WILLEMSTAD - The Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences of the University of Curaçao (UoC) is proud to announce that its International Hospitality & Tourism Management (IH&TM) program has been positively assessed by the Netherlands-Flemish Accreditation Organization (NVAO). By offering this accredited degree, the UoC has become a key stakeholder in educating future leaders both locally and internationally in the hospitality and tourism industry. This bachelor's degree offers prospective students and local professionals a unique opportunity to study hospitality and tourism at the UoC and thus to occupy higher positions within the sector.

The IH&TM program is a four-year course that was set up in response to demand from the tourism and hospitality sector. The students receive a broad education, with a lot of attention being paid to the 'hospitality mindset', innovation and sustainability. The program pays a lot of attention to practical experience and experience in the field.

On January 20 and 21, 2022, the International Hospitality & Tourism Management program of the University of Curaçao was independently assessed by the NVAO. The panel concluded that the IH&TM program fully complies with NVAO's quality standards for higher education.

 

The NVAO panel praised the following features of the IH&TM program very briefly, among other things: the study program is up-to-date, because many lecturers work in industry and bring in current developments from the field; the training has an interesting professional profile that includes the hospitality and tourism domain; it is important that the learning outcomes are clear, transparent, student-centered and aimed at progressive higher order thinking; the program offers multiple opportunities for students through the strong partnership and collaboration with the private sector partners. An extensive coaching program is also offered to the students. And finally, the assessment plan provides a rich variety of assessments, shows how the learning outcomes of the program are achieved and supports the learning of the student journey.
