WILLEMSTAD - Last Sunday, the Coast Guard conducted targeted surveillance patrols at sea near Fuikbaai and the pier of Sta. Barbara. These inspection patrols are realized in collaboration with the port security inspection and police force of Curaçao and are aimed at checking the COVID-19 measures. The authorities at sea will be carrying out checks along the most visited bays on the island over the coming weekends. In particular, on the first Sunday of January 2021, strict controls will take place to stop boats that want to sail to Fuikbaai. As is well known, Fuikdag 2021 will be banned and boats are not allowed to sail to Fuikbaai. A request to all boat owners and the "boat community" to take this into account. Therefore, no form of gathering at sea, gathering on piers and / or rafting at sea is allowed. It is prohibited to organize events at sea with boats and other vessels under any name, such as Fuikdag. Events on Klein Curaçao and other bays such as Westpunt, Piscadera or Jan Thiel are also prohibited during the corona pandemic, in order to prevent people from gathering.
The applicable COVID-19 measures at sea are: a maximum of two boats may be alongside each other and a maximum of four (4) persons on board a boat or one household.
