WILLEMSTAD - Many angry customers on Thursday at the Maduro & Curiel’s Bank. Business owners are furious with their bank. The bank now charges a handling fee for depositing the daily turnover. According to several business owners, they were not even informed about this new policy.
The 1 percent fee is only charged if they bring the daily turnover in cash and stand in line. Since 1 May, MCB has charged 2.12 guilders deposit costs if business owners deposit their money in their account.
Several rates for doing banking were raised and the business owners expressed their dissatisfaction about it. The bank staff had their hands full explaining the rate increase.
According to the managing director of the MCB Michael de Sola, the rate increases are meant to get people out of the bank and do more online. Business owners also must bring their cash to the bank in a different way.
According to De Sola, there are free alternatives. The increases were announced well in advance, according to the managing director, so people could be informed.
