WILLEMSTAD - Local banks no longer want lottery offices in their customer base due to their relationships with other banks abroad. That's what the Wega di Number foundation says to the media on the island.
The lottery offices now have to go back to cash because their accounts have been canceled by, among others, the Maduro & Curiel’s Bank (MCB). Lottery offices would be too high a risk for banks because of their alleged involvement in money laundering and the financing of terrorist organizations.
