Baoase Luxury Resort Raises USD 110,000 During Twelfth Annual Crab Race on Bida Island

Local | By Press release January 7, 2026

WILLEMSTAD - Baoase Luxury Resort hosted its 12th edition of its annual Crab Race on January 2nd, 2026, continuing a tradition that has steadily grown in scale and impact over the years. The event took place on Bida Island and brought together guests, partners, and the extended Baoase family in support of two charitable foundations.

This year, over 111 crabs were sold, generating USD 11.100 through crab sales. In addition, a live auction held during the event further contributed to the overall fundraising result. Auction prizes included a selection of exclusive experiences, such as a Baoase yacht trip, a four-night stay at Baoase Luxury Resort, and an Adopt-A-Family Room initiative in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao, among others. Combined with additional donations, these efforts resulted in a total amount raised of USD 110,000 / XCG 195.800.

The proceeds were distributed between The Baoase Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), two organizations with a strong focus on community support and family well-being.

The Baoase Foundation, established as the philanthropic arm of Baoase Luxury Resort, supports initiatives across Curaçao with a focus on education, youth development, and social well-being. The foundation works to strengthen families and individuals facing structural challenges by investing in programs that create access to opportunity, foster personal growth, and support long-term community resilience through meaningful partnerships and targeted initiatives.

Ronald McDonald House Charities supports families with children receiving medical care by providing a welcoming and practical environment close to treatment facilities. Through its Ronald McDonald Family Room located within the Curaçao Medical Center, the foundation offers families a place to rest, regroup, and remain close to their child during hospitalization, helping to reduce emotional and logistical burdens during critical moments.

With a strong turnout and continued support from returning contributors, the 12th annual Crab Race reflects the event’s ongoing growth and its increasing role in supporting organizations that make a tangible difference within the Curaçao community.

Baoase Luxury Resort extends its sincere appreciation to all guests, partners, and families who contributed to the success of this year’s event and to the impact achieved together.
